I've put away the scary novel for a bit. I have a new novel that I have to read for school. I'm reading "Jane Eyre" (pronounced AIR). I generally don't go in for these Victorian ERa, "Girly" novels, but I've never read "Jane Eyre" and I should. It is considered a classic. I was looking for something different to read with my seniors, and this is what I picked. So far...well, I'm not hating it. It's about a girl and the things she goes through in her life...blah, blah, blah.
Heart of Darkness is about an old dude and the things he does through in life...blah,blah,blah. Just sayin'...
ReplyDeleteDon't you get confused when you stop reading one book in the middle and start another one?
ReplyDeleteWhy do you have a problem with reading a girly book? There is nothing wrong with a girly book.
But...there's stuff...lions and tigers and bears and stuff. There are wild, naked, native African people in "Heart of Darkness." Besides the "Darkness" is truely dark, as in, evil. The worst thing Jane seems to encounter is a mean, uncaring aunt and a hypocritical minister. I mean, who hasn't faced people like this? Marlowe encounters true darkness in Africa, Jane runs into a bit of discomfort. Of course, it may get more intense...I'm giving it a chance.
ReplyDeleteDo you know why it's considered a classic?

ReplyDeleteWell, have you picked up on the "girly, girly" novel or are you back into the evil of darkness? I am reading a strange one that involves kidnapped Russian girls who are sold on "the market" in America - weird!
What do you think of the novel? Is it a interesting read?
